Find a compressed copy of the QB64 wiki and forum - Coolman - 05-09-2022

i found a compressed archive of the qb64 wiki that looks quite recent dated 2022-04-20, there is a database and files. i got the files to convert them to pdf and assemble them into one file. if anyone is interested, here is the link to the archive. it seems useless to reinvent the wheel for the new wiki:

https://archive.org/details/qb64.org-wiki

also a link compressed archive of the forum of qb64 dated 2022-04-20 :

https://archive.org/details/qb64.org-forum

I try to download but the archive has a size of about 3.3go and it's very slow...

I hadn't noticed but how important. this data belongs to the qb64 community. it's an important sum of information and documentation.

I've downloaded it several times, but the archives both are corrupted and doesn't unpack using 7-zip.
Only a few files get properly unpacked, just junk at all.

I already downloaded the wiki. decompression done. no problem.

I'm downloading the forum archive but it's very slow. 25kb per second. with this speed, it will take another 26 hours...

I downloaded them both, the forum files decompress ok but the files are only usable if installed on a server of which I know 0
the wiki didn't decompress without duplicate filenames, more than likely the conflicting filenames differ by case but Windows sees them as equal, should be ok on linux

You guys do realize that the old forums are already unpacked and available on the net, right?  Read them, search them, do whatever you like with them.  https://qb64forum.alephc.xyz/

Same with the old wiki: https://www.studiopond.uk/qb64wiki/www.qb64.org/wiki/Keyword_Reference_-_Alphabetical.html

Just one thing to keep in mind with these old wiki's though -- they only document the past QB64.  We've already moved towards pushing changes and updates into the Phoenix Edition, meaning some of the information you find in these old wikis is already out of date and incorrect.  (Like the page on $COLOR saying it doesn't work with $NOPREFIX... That's old news now.)

RE: Find a compressed copy of the QB64 wiki and forum - Coolman - 05-10-2022

it's good that qb64 is evolving in another direction but it's important to keep compatibility with the old codes. it's very important. i converted all the htmls files of the wiki into a single pdf file. i'll do the same with the new wiki as soon as it's complete. It allows you to find information offline without having to access the net. it's much faster. i'm going to try to do the same for the archive copy of the forum. i already have an incomplete copy converted into a text file of about 200 mo which contains a lot of information, site links, source code. i don't want to lose this data...

@SMcNeill. if you can provide a link to a compressed forum archive copy of this link :

https://qb64forum.alephc.xyz/

that would be cool.

thanks.

otherwise. if i can't get the compressed archive of the old forum, i'll use wget to download it.

hello @Jack, in the wiki I found a database but also a lot of htmls files. does the forum archive not contain this kind of file?

Sorry, Coolman. I don't have the archive for the old forum. If you want an off-line version of it, your best bet is probably just wget or httrack it. Wink
