What's in a Reputation? - PhilOfPerth - 10-11-2022 I'm curious about how "Reputation" is calculated (no, I'm not really worried about mine - I just tag along). As an example, take Vince (nothing personal, Vince, just an example). Total Reputation: 8 From Members:0 From Posts: 10 Obviously 2 extra "Reputation" points from somewhere, but where? RE: What's in a Reputation? - bplus - 10-11-2022 Oh wow! vince got a pink one! I use my 2 cents worth hopefully to encourage, laugh, support. RE: What's in a Reputation? - PhilOfPerth - 10-11-2022 If Vince's rep is pink, what's yours? 47 Total 2 points from Members 45 (well earned) points from Posts. That computes. Does it have to do with number of posts, or what? This is the most mind-boggling thing to me... except Steve and "Yosemite" Pete of course. I don't like this "mini-mod" label you and a few others received. Anyway I lost one point of reputation, but after being made "senior member" regained it. I try not to pay a lot of attention to forum awards. RE: What's in a Reputation? - SMcNeill - 10-11-2022 Stars are based on number of posts. Phil has 177 posts and 3 stars, while you have 262 posts and 4 stars. Stars are just an indication of forum activity. Mini-mods are folks who have their own "Prolific Programmer" forum. They can edit and moderate their own subforum there, but not anywhere else. They're not "true" mods over the forums -- just their own "Prolific Programmer" subforum. Pete and I are the only 2 full-forum administrators. But mini-mods are honestly nothing more than regular users who have posted a ton and requested a private sub-forum for ease of organizing and showcasing their work. RE: What's in a Reputation? - Pete - 10-11-2022 Stars are the only indicator of any importance. I have 7-stars! Steve just says I'm over-compensating for something, but I' can't figure out what he's talking about. I suppose since I moderate my own corner those posts don't count? Guess it wouldn't be right to take all the stars ;-)) RE: What's in a Reputation? - Kernelpanic - 10-11-2022 (10-11-2022, 08:47 AM)Pete Wrote: Stars are the only indicator of any importance. LOL Man you better not laugh too hard RE: What's in a Reputation? - SMcNeill - 10-11-2022 General users get stars based on the above, from 1 to 5. Mini-mods all have 3 stars. Super-mods have 6 stars. Admin have 7 stars. LOL, I had to go back and check the settings just to refresh my memory on how it all pulled together completely. |
