RE: Retro MMORPG in QB64 - MasterGy - 08-06-2023

Hello ! I registered, it started. I didn't know what to do, where to go? then I exited the game and after that it won't let me log back in. I like the idea, I want to play with it.

I tried again and was able to connect. wow, this is an ambitious and really neat project.

I was able to find the Alchemist, but could not find the Scythe for his quest.

I walked all around the map, and into the boundary where it says "TEST TEST TEST" Smile

I found a Resumr crystal.

I figured out how fight and block and chat, but no one was there.

I don't know where the monsters are Smile

Really nice music and sound effects. Impressive work.
The game has the mechanics of a fantasy role-playing game, it starts with level 1 and it's about progressing to the highest level.
For that, money must be raised, this is done either by cutting down or mining, or by killing enemies, which are scattered in the forests, mountains and drains of some cities.
Tools, weapons and spells are bought from the different merchants in the cities, for example, the scythe is sold by a merchant for little money.
The Resurrection Altar your found is to recover life in case of death.
Some characters will give us missions, which consist of collecting objects or killing enemies
There is a manual that explains minimally how are the commands with the keyboard and mouse. The sound and graphic resources are public license, some of them I have done in a simple way to test some mechanics.
It's not a fast-paced game, more for exploration, so it's a test map.
Look at AETRICIA dot DDNS dot NET, There is another more extensive manual in English.

I'm glad you tried it, keep doing it and you will find terror in the lands of Aetricia!!! Smile Smile Smile

Hello! Thanks for trying it, surely it didn't let you connect because when a user disconnects, it takes about 50 seconds to try again. On the project site there is a manual in English with the basic considerations to play, then it is to explore and buy weapons and kill enemies in the forests, mountains, rivers, etc! Keep in mind that it is a test map and it is not completely finished yet but it serves to have a good time alone or with friends if you like games of this style!!!

Soon I will make the code and the entire project available.

Yes, I had already shared it once in the old Galleon forum, and in a free moment, I will share it again, so that you can experiment with the source code!

Just be certain to hide any sort of server password protection first.

Yeah. Don't be like Spriggsy and accidentally give out a valid email and password combo on your GitHub and have to send reports to GitHub to try taking down forks.
