QB64.com?

Seems there's a QB64.com out there. Anyone know about it?

QB64.com | QB64 is a modern extended BASIC programming language that retains QBasic/QuickBASIC 4.5 compatibility and compiles native binaries for Windows, Linux, and macOS.

Aye.  There's also a https://www.QB64.dev domain out there now, as well as a QB64-x somewhere...

Personally, I'm of the philosophy that it's an open source project.  Let them all, do them.  I'll just do me, and only worry about me, as that's all I've got the time and motivation to woory over.

These are all us, and all the other sites out there are linking back here to us.

qb64.com links to back our forums, and our wiki, and yet directs people to a different repo?

I dunno!  They do them, and I'll just keep on keeping on...

Well, I hope he didn't pay the asking price...

That asking price is the reason why I grabbed the domain that I did. Most folks find a place by links, and then they add those links into their browser's favorite's list. I just can't understand the concept behind paying that amount for a .com name, when an off name like qb64phoenix.com was only something like $15.00...

I'm happy where I am, and my wallet is happy with the money I didn't spend still sitting in it. That's good enough for me. Big Grin

I've been away from QB64 land this year but just received an invite to https://github.com/QB64Official. The last hour has been 'interesting' as I've tried to catch up on developments.

FWIW, http://qb64.com seems to be making some claims about having "official" status and lists the Phoenix effort as "unofficial". It's a bit confusing but will hopefully wash out in the not too distant future.

Cory Smith seems to be heading up this alternate effort. Is he someone of note in the QB64 community? I don't recall the name.

Thanks for your efforts.

Can't say I recall ever hearing about him, until he bought .com for $$$ the other day. Of course, at my age, I'm lucky to recall where my keys are, what I had for breakfast, or.. umm... what was I saying? ;D

Interesting, I just caught myself up on all of this and also learned about Steve's new 0.5 thing. Seems Steve has absolutely zero respect or consideration to the past or what anyone thinks. Started with the absurd forum organization, then the weird colours and banner, and now this bizarre versioning thing. I kind of wondered why didn't Fellippe consider Steve as the heir? I guess RC came with promises of "brand legitimacy" -- how funny is it that we're now all stuck in Steve's whimsical paradise?

Now there's a weird power struggle over who's the 'official'. Can't say that I ever liked "the QB64 team" branding under Fellippe and Steve's brand is a hell of a lot funnier and more amusing. Waltersmind would be better, of course. It's also been annoying how you have to constantly update QB64 with the addition of useless new keywords and junk to keep up with the latest forum posts. All I know is that for the time being I'm going to be targeting FreeBASIC as the primary leisurely programming platform then we'll see what edition of QB64 I'll have to translate to in order to engage with the likes of bplus
