I have always used "LINE INPUT" to read lines from a text file.
I was referring to one of the sites that offered ASCII art, which link I gave in an earlier post, which demonstrates a way not to present information in order to make a good impression. Many images are offered which is nice, but each "image" in a graphics block. It's like choosing "emojis" on this forum, on the left-hand side of the reply window. It causes spaces at the front of lines to be disregarded, sometimes even newlines are missing and all lines of the "image" are run on so it's impossible to put Humpty Dumpty back together again. In fact the "images" that could be seen best either have underscores to start each line, or are totally drawn out of the block characters, like SMcNeill's post on the top of this page.
Somebody goes visit that site or another one, selects text with the mouse, copy and then paste into a text editor with monospace font and then is like, "WTF? It doesn't look like a person/whale/bear/other-animal!" Because everything is left-aligned where it shouldn't be. Some ASCII art images need the underscore inside picture elements which causes the artist to insist on spaces and tabs for the "background", but nothing could be done about that LOL if that art was offered as early as the 1990's.
