Well, there is a history lesson for you..
Originally, in the 90's I wrote a Whatis recursive descent parser because I wanted to parse calculations at the Dos command prompt.
(which is attached) (whatis has 3,000 lines)
then I built a parser on top of it to parse basic commands which blew up into a fully featured interpreter.
(sic64 has 24,000 lines, whereas qb64.bas itself has 26,000 lines)
