Charlie posting too much BAM at Retro
#1
Charlie shame on you for posting over 50% materials at Retro! (I am being totally sarcastic. Shame on them in my eyes!  for criticizing you for being so prolific, my goodness most forums love you when you are so active!). And like you complained doing this publicly is pretty nasty too, just lets jokers like me see and make fun of them though.

Don't you know not to post more than Ron77?  LOL this is so funny to me, but I hate how you are being treated!

Makes sense to me.  After all, NO forums want their members to be active!  If a forum sees more than a single post in a month, it has too much traffic and is probably just spam bots at work.

I'm not one to ever ask for much, if anything.  But clearly delineated guidelines to keep me within those guidelines would have been a really sweet thing.

A publicly humiliating "you should not do this, should not do that", haphazardly making up guidelines as we go, squared right at wee me is a no-fun drop-kick-me-jesus-through-the-goal-posts-of-life moment that I don't find much joy in.

(Damn it.  Truth be told, it is funny as hell to me.  Smarts a bit, but totally entertaining.)

If you aren't going to visibly delineate the boundaries of the yard, this scatter-brained puppy is going to run amok.

I'm not sure what it says about a forum when there is so little activity in it that my posts are taking up more space than all of the other members combined.  Stupid me for trying to inject some life into the thing and trying to get any kind of conversation going.

Just when I was thinking it was easy enough for folk to ignore me when they really aren't interested, me thinks I'm gonna crank things up a notch and make it easier.

Being a once-bitten-twice-shy-kind-of-guy and not fond of being paranoid over the what/where/when/how (process/guidelines/scope) mental acrobatics re posting ...

Dollars to doughnuts, if I'm ruffling up the feathers of one bird over there, I'm probably ruffling up the feathers of every odd duck everywhere.  Gonna nip that in the bud right pronto and silo-process the poop out of the whole guacamole, baby.

You know what's funny: I was raked over the coals because of the size of attached images.

Well, if size of attached images are an issue, then setup the forum to enforce size limits on attachments/images.

If the forum can't enforce size limits, then disable attachments/images altogether.

Bah.  I'm applying common sense, again.

I've got a sudden urge to revisit the movie "Idiocracy".

Good idea to add that tidbit of context:

It would seem that I'm the focal-point of henpecking to death over there.

Any well-intentioned suggestion, like a good deed, just can't go unpunished.  Meh.

If you are into the entertainment value: https://retrocoders.phatcode.net/index.p...48#msg2048

Aside:

Cognitive disabilities over here, so easily confused, easily distracted, easily down all kinds of rabbit holes of intertwingled/hyperlinked thinking, easily caught in paralysis by analysis with sticks stuck in my wheels and wheels stuck in the mud.

Yeah, I like to say I suffer from "intertwingulitis"...

But I've got a wicked and dark sense o' ha-ha that is way out there, so if I always have a dumb-looking smirk on my face, believe-you-me I've got a hilarious show playing on the tv of this old sponge.

Charlie has answered already the link to retrocoders, sorry I should have included in my post.

I read further clarifications there. just now, and your solution, Charlie, to use blog and post links to it seems perfect to reduce the limited server load of images as I understand more the exact nature of their problem.

Forums are for discussion both Q&A and with code obviously for a coding forum. I think continuous announcements about BAM developments are appropriate when you have a board under RetroCoding dedicated to BAM, I mean WTH?

Disclosure: I am as irrationally biased against them as they seem irrationally biased against QB64.

A "third-party" has decided to chime in after my request for clearly posted guidelines:

Quote:You've been given oportunity to discuss your BASIC with its users. Where are these users? You're mostly "discussing" BAM with yourself. Maybe it's time to accept that BAM has no users here and stop flooding this forum with posts about it?

Ouch.  Yeah, it would seem that certain online folk have it in for me and my interests.  Feels weird to me.

I have a hard time coping with too many people and too many topics, get easily overwhelmed, but I don't think it is healthy to be a complete hermit/recluse.

I better find a spot in which it is safe for me to have conversations with myself.  I hope me and myself can avoid getting into heated arguments.  Now I'me thinking of "Fight Club"...

Too funny.

With all my challenges along with PTSD from a previous job, I totally forgot: "hey, wait a minute.  I'm a moderator in the BAM subforum."

So I cleared from the discussion every post from my personal troll, along with every anxiety-wrapped reply of mine trying to get my troll to bugger off.

Yay.  Insta-Zen.
